Economy is kicking people's butts

I hear the PTB that's the powers-that-be talking about the debt ceiling and taxes, etc. Obviously the politicians have no idea what's happening on the street. Working as a gold and silver buyer, I constantly have people selling gold and silver to cover living expenses, as their job, or lack of one, isn't keeping up.

We need a president like Ron Paul who is committed to cutting spending, returning our troops, ceasing the ridiculous Empire building that has gone on for decades, and making America competitive again. That may mean shrinking government, but I for one am ready to see the government small again.

Real Estate Buyer's Market - Baloney!!

I have been out in Cottonwood Arizona all of July. There is a little advertising newspaper here called the Ad King. It consists of advertisements and classified ads.

Reading the front cover this morning I see Arizona Central Land and Home, a real estate firm saying ”The real estate market conditions are at a peak for buying.”
To me, this is a self serving and deceptive statement. Housing will continue to fall in value as more people lose their jobs and homes. The norm today is for families to move into a relatives, or rent out an extra room, just to make ends meet.

Our congress and president can’t agree to cut government, reduce spending or anything to reverse our collision course with disaster. It’s as if the captain of the Titanic were calling for more cruising speed!

With the continued job losses, and belt tightening, the outlook for most businesses is grim. We will see continual business closings, and losses until this whole system crashes to it’s destruction.

One can only hope that the reset will allow entrepreneurship to flourish again. if not we’ll be plunged into a Socialist society, and or, the One World government people will finally thrust us all into a feudalist society of Overlords and Serfs.

Saving On Food in the New Economy

We are seeing rising food prices worldwide. It seems that almost all commodities have risen, and will continue to rise. Certainly this is due to Worldwide weather disruption, and the fiat currencies imploding. It becomes imperitave to find ways to secure foods at a better rate. Here's one way I save on breakfast:

Stock Market is Manipulated - And so are Commodities

We have massive unemployment in the USA, and yet stocks are up. The earnings that are reported are coming from dumping employees. Consumer demand may be the same, but consumer buying power, and confidence are at an all time low. Real unemployment ranges from 20% to 30% depending on where you are.

Here in Florida we see 20% to 25% unemployment. I don't see how any company can be booming with these numbers. This is really evident as Goodwill becomes the new Wal-Mart.

I buy silver and gold at Honest Gold Guy of Sarasota. I see people selling gold and silver for extra cash. This lack of jobs has people liquidating many of their possessions to meet daily expenses.

My Silver Seller Client Who Wouldn't Sell

I had a customer bring in a huge, heavy sterling silver necklace the other day. It was much bigger and gaudier than the one in the picture. I weighed it and gave her a price quote. Off the top of my head I believe it was 266.00 or therabouts. She immediately said I couldn't sell it for that! I paid $400.00 for it in a Mexican Tourist Hotel several years ago.

Of course when we buy silver jewelry we're paying for the silver, the craftmanship, and the retail markup. At a tourist hotel I would expect the markup to be great. The necklace was so big and gaudy that no one in the family would wear it, and she wants to hold it to get her $400.00's back.

I just scratch my head sometimes. Some lucky?? heir will inherit a huge, gaudy necklace I guess!
