Desperate Youth Join Military For Jobs - Bad Choice

This government, like the one it preceded, is hell bent on continual war.

With the current depression youth graduating high school see themselves with 3 choices. 1. Struggle to find a job. Unlikely. 2. Go to college. This puts off a job for at least 4 yers, but lands one in deep debt that cannot be shed. And still there may not be a job. 3. Join the military. Hope to be lucky and survive, uninjured to go to school on the government dollar. If that happens you will be older, wiser, more cynical, and may have lost parts of your soul for the actions you've been ordered to take in the name of Freedom.

I'm sorry, a government taking unconstitutional actions is not acting for anyone's freedoms. They are simply acting in the interests of their moneyed backers.

I grew up in the Vietnam era. At the time we did have a draft.I had a low draft number, and knew I would be drafted on my birthday. I saw Vietnam as an illegal war. There was no meaning for us to be there killing, and having our young men killed. I joined the National Guard as soon as possible.

It was a decision that, even today 40+ years later, I know was the right one for me.

It is a decision that would not work for today's young people. The Guard and Reserves are looked upon as part of the active military. More cannon fodder.

I have no male children, only grandchildren. What would I say if they wanted to join the military today? Just NO.

Gold and Silver Surges - Dollar Slumps

Gold and silver surge as the dollar dies. Our excessive spending and sending our jobs offshore are killing the dollar. Then world feels like gold and silver might be a safer bet than U.S. Treasuries or American dollars.

The rest of the world's fiat currencies are not much better. None of the country's governments want to live within their means. The United States must balance the budget like we citizens must, or it will be unable to continue.

Economic Recovery = Throw Obama Out

For our economy to recover we must cut spending, abolish unneeded Federal Government Agencies, and return our government to a lean machine with basic responsibilities. Can this be done with Obama as President. NO NO NO

Donal Trump is making more sense now, although it's likely the Republican party would rather have another faux conservative as their candidate. Last time we got John McCain, which made Obama (with no experience) look young and virile.

For the record, I love Ron Paul because he is honest. Could I vote for Donald Trump over Obama? Yes, at least he's a businessman.

High Speed Rail Boondogle

There has been much debate about high speed rail here in Florida. Our govenor told the Feds to keep their money. High speed rail is a loser.

The problems are: The cost to run it falls on the states. The area is serves is too short. The ridership predictions are way too rosy. The state's taxpayers will be stuck with the shortfalls.

Oh sure it would put some more folks to work in cushy government jobs earning retirement benefits we all wish we could get, but it's time the public in each state told the federales no!
